Top Five World's Best Band Names

Any geeky blogger with an interest for pop culture, come to this point at some time: List their favourite band names. So here is my shot, with a nod to my friend Daniel, the list over at Jason Santa Maria, Brainwashed and Rock103.com.

  1. Up With Downs (Norwegian group with Down’s Syndrome kids.)
  2. Bethlehem Abortion Clinic (A punk band from my home town, who had a concert there today, December 27th.)
  3. Suburban Kids With Biblical Names (Swedish band, whose name sums up Scandinavian youths in just five words. The kind of youths that make up band names like #2.)
  4. Avlyst (Norwegian for “Cancelled”, the band had many great posters for their concerts)
  5. Biff Hitler and the Violent Mood Swings (Came just in front of Space Age Hitler and the Nazi Synthesizers)

Honorable mention

Vafler mot AIDS (Waffles Against AIDS), Turbonegro, The Diarea of Anne Frank, Barbara’s Bush, Drew Barrymore’s Dealer, Boiled Snake Bottoms, Jehovah’s Witness Protection Program, Tracy & the Hindenburg Ground Crew, JFKFC.

For my Norwegian readers, I’d like to inform/scare you that I found a song by “Fru Flettfrid Andrésen og Gøran Sørloth” in my iTunes library. And that’s no ironic college band. It’s really them.
